Shafallah is a plant widespread in the Qatari environment. It is a perennial shrub with many branches, most of which cover the ground unless there is something attached to it, in which case it can grow high. It is an evergreen plant. It has been known since ancient times for its therapeutic benefits. In Qatar, the plant is of medium spread, loves heavy clay soil, and is widespread in the northern regions such as Rawdat Al Faras, Umm Al Amad, Umm Salal Mohammed, Al Kharaitiyat, and Al Shafallah area. Shafallah is threatened with extinction due to urban sprawl, and there are efforts to repopulate and cultivate it.
